The Chicago Thanksgiving Parade began in 1934 and has grown into one of the largest celebrations in the country. Every year downtown Chicago swarms with performers from around the world. The backbone of the parade is made up of marching bands, dance troupes, local community groups, and over 1,200 volunteers.
