The Chicago Thanksgiving Parade was launched in 1934 and has grown into one of the largest celebrations in the country, filling downtown Chicago with performers from around the world. The backbone of the parade is made up of marching bands, local dance groups, community groups, and over 1,200 volunteers. I was there at 4 a.m. to get a rare glimpse into the enormous effort that goes into this celebration.
